Nearly missed you Frankie.."D.O.T!
What truth is it exactly youré trying to defend?"
The current understanding of the Faithful Slave, that helps us to learn what the Bible means for us today. Not my views, who am I to think I know better than Jehovahs organisation? Even the FDS doesn't go beyond what the Bible says on a matter. 10th post, gotta go..

Active JW's, can you defend "THE TRUTH?"
by DATA-DOG inas of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.
this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.

" If the elders are ‘guided’ by holy spirit then the holy spirit is working independently of god and therefore not reliable. "
They are guided by the holy spirit inspired words in the Bible, not moved by it to act in a certain way. I'm not going to keep repeating this, so forgive me if I ignore you if you keep bringing it up, I can see that happening.
DataDog:" WRONG. The disciples were not interpreting anything. They asked a question because they did not know the answer. That is a far cry from saying a WTBTS theory is indisputable fact "
They were interpreting, that view (of Jesus becoming king at that time on the earth) was an interpretation of prophecy. The Watchtower doesn't promote theory as fact. 1975 was repeatedly said to be a 'possibility'. I'm going to be busy for a while now, don't assume I have 'ran away', as you people are no doubt going to. -

" No scriptures altered? What about the new NWT? "
Unless you read the original greek/hebrew, any Bible you read is a relatively new translation. The Bible needs to be understood by everyone, not just the highly educated ones of this world.
" Either god is involved or he isn’t. "
His Word is involved, He is not directly responsible for wrong appointments or disfellowshipping decisions. Have you ever heard an elder say ' Jehovah came to me in a dream last night and told me to appoint Brother so-and-so' ?? No. -

" I would have to ask, how are the GB given the messages from god directly? "
They are not. I never said that. They are his channel (or mouthpiece) in the sense that God allows them to interpret the Bible with guidance from his Spirit, then publish that interpretation. They may give a wrong interpretation on a verse, such as what Jesus meant by the word generation, but Jehovah will let them reach the correct conclusion, at the time it is needed. We do not need to know some things, such as when the end will come exactly.
" If the watchtower writers do not claim to be inspired then why do they disfellowship those that simply do not agree with them? "
They do not. The local elders are forced to preserve our precious unity and peace when someone talks to others about their private views that conflict with the FDS teachings, and tries to influence them to draw away from the Truth. Without this protection we would break up into various sects, as many religions have, or spend all day debating what certain words and verses could mean like the Jews in Jesus' day. The preaching could not be accomplished. Besides, we all agree on the main teachings and that the end is near, so causing disagreements over trifling matters is a waste of time. -

" Jesus never talked about 'false' christians/followers "
Matthew 7:21-23
New King James Version (NKJV)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
..People addressing him as Lord, hoping to enter his kingdom, and performing works in his name=people professing to be Christian. This verse makes it clear that some are not acknowledged by Jesus as followers of him, he does not even know them, and tells them to 'depart from him'. These are not truly following him, they are not Christian, so they bear the name Christian falsely. Hope that cleared it up for you. -

" If Holy Spirit directs the elders into their decision in respect of the outcome of a ‘judicial committee’ then why is the alleged ‘wrongdoer’ given 7 days to appeal? Did God make a mistake? "
God could not make a mistake, he did not make that decision. The elders did, who are guided by Holy Spirit in that they use the instructions and principles given to them by reading the spirit inspired words found in the Bible, but they are imperfect and can only know what they have been told, they are not omniscient. Neither were the judges who applied the Law in Israel. Mistakes can happen, more information may be needed. The appeal process is a loving provision. -

"When the writers of the watchtower get things wrong and have to change a previous doctrine why are they likened to the men in the Bible who ‘got things wrong’ (a claim which cannot be supported by scripture)? If this is the case, which scriptures had to be altered later on because God gave the writers incorrect information? "
The disciples of Jesus got things wrong. They even interpreted (messianic) prophecy incorrectly. "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"Acts 1:6
No scripture has been altered because it was inspired directly by God. The Watchtower writers do not claim that their interpretations are inspired or infallible, and never have done. (see the box at the beginning of the Revelation grand climax book, I've no doubt you have read it.) -

" Are the Governing Body of the JWs ‘God’s mouthpiece’ (as they have claimed), or ‘just imperfect men’? They seem to be both depending on which scenario furthers the interests of the watchtower. How do we know when they switch from being one to the other? "
They are both. Men such as Moses and Abraham were both 'just imperfect men' who were used by God to convey a message. -

"If you are unable to attend the meeting because of illness or extenuating circumstances making it impossible to attend in person."
..This is not to replace meetings, nor will it ever be for true Christians. -

We will always follow the example of the first century christians, by meeting together to upbuild and encourage one another, and to 'incite to love and fine works'.
The love that identifies us as Christs disciples could not be truly expressed or felt by sitting and typing on a keyboard/tablet etc..
We will meet together and show our love for God and each other for as long as the worlds governments allow it.
You apostates can just take it easy and sit at home, rather than 'putting up with the healthful teaching'.
We have no need to follow your example.
